Corrosion Resistance:
Excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking due to 2-3% Mo content.
Performs well in acidic, saline, and high-humidity environments (e.g., marine, chemical plants).
High-Temperature Performance:
Serviceable up to 800°C continuously; short-term tolerance up to 925°C.
Formability & Weldability:
Ductile and easy to weld (use 316L for welding to minimize carbide precipitation).
Non-Magnetic:
Austenitic structure remains non-magnetic in annealed state (may become slightly magnetic after cold working).
